Curling Brings Home ACAC Silver

The Concordia University College of Alberta Curling team returned from the ACAC Curling Championships hosted at Augustana in Camrose February 26th and 27th with an ACAC Silver medal after a "come from behind" performance. The Thunder opened the tournament going 0-3 in round robin play and found themselves seeded 4th as they entered tournament play. Concordia would go into extra ends in the opening round of the Tournament against the number three seeded RDC, with skip Adam Mann throwing key shots to secure a 5-4 win over RDC before advancing to the semi-finals against MacEwan. The Thunder would also have to go to extra ends before edging the Griffins 6-5 to advanced to the championship finals where they would face the Lakeland College Rustlers. Concordia found it self in yet another tightly contested match which would also go into extra ends however they would be unable to overcome the Rustlers as Lakeland defeat Concordia 6-5. The Thunder finish the 2009-10 ACAC Curling season with an ACAC Silver medal for the first medal in the programs history.
Curling Advances to ACAC Playoffs

The Concordia University College of Alberta Curling team has advanced to the ACAC Playoffs after this past weekend of play in Grande Prairie. The Thunder managed to secure a post season birth after posting a 3-3 tournament record in Grande Prairie and a 7-4 overall record, good enough for a fourth place finish in the ACAC Mixed Curling division. The Thunder Curling team tallied three dominant victories over RDC (7-1), NAIT (7-1) and GPRC (8-0) but would lose to Lakeland (3-5), Augustana (4-10) and MacEwan (3-5) to finish the tournament with a .500 record on the weekend. Up next for the Thunder are the ACAC playoffs hosted in Camrose at Augustana February 26th-28th. 
Curling Hosts Season Opening Event

The Concordia University College of Alberta Curling team began the ACAC 2009-10 Curling season with a great start posting a 4-2 record after the first qualifying event in held in Leduc this past weekend. The Thunder currently sit in second place one game behind Red Deer, a team that Concordia defeated and who hold a 5-1 record. "Overall the team played extremely well considering it was our first competition as a team" says Head Coach Dean Ohnysty. The Thunder will look to improve their record in the New Year when they head to Grande Prairie January 29-31st
