Cross Country Running Open 2009 Season

The Concordia University College of Alberta Cross-Country Running team opened the 2009 ACAC running season this past weekend in Calgary on Saturday September 12th at the SAITOpen Meet. Concordia finished third of the ACAC teams participating. Head Coach Matthew Norminton had this to say about the weekend, " it’s a start and we can only get better from this point. I think we all learned a lot as a team." Next up for the Thunder is the NAIT/Running Room open meet hosted at Tiger Goldstick Park Saturday September 19th.
Thunder Athletics Name New Cross Country Coach

The Concordia University College of Alberta Thunder Athletics Department is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Norminton as Head Coach of the Thunder Cross Country team. Coach Norminton come to Concordia with a tremendous high performance background both as an athlete and a coach. Having competed in the ACAC for MacEwan College in where he brought home an ACAC Silver medal in 1996 as well as coaching world class athletes Bernard Onsare (2009 Vancouver Marathon Champion) and Jenifer Kemp (national 800m Silver medalist). "We are very excited have Matthew join us and look forward to the teams success this season, his experience will help to elevate our program to new heights." Says Athletics Coordinator Todd Warnick.
